about the Artist

FOH

Artist Kim Ji Sun studied product design at Kingston University
and began her creative journey after realizing the value of hands-on
craftsmanship in product making. She engages in unique and diverse
experiments, creating furniture and accessories using distinctive
materials like plastic, mesh, urethane foam, and edible insect powder.
Among her works, the Poly Series, created using hot press foaming
technology, represents a new form of craft using plastic.
The wit of material transformation can be seen in the way artificial
poly materials are reborn as crafts with a texture that seems alive.

The texture created during the hot press foaming process, as the layers of
material are pressed together, feels like breathing life into the work.
Each piece is crafted with such delicacy, as if handling something alive,
that it becomes a product people would want to keep by their side for a long time.
The warm colors, reminiscent of shyly blooming cherry blossoms, and the neat
forms, give the work a graceful and elegant impression. The curved design is
feminine and unpretentious, yet it stands out with a subtle presence.
